Two Busia ODM MCAs and one from Ford Kenya have expressed disappointment after Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula was dethroned as the Minority Leader in the Senate.
The three county lawmakers said the move was not in the spirit of the NASA coalition.
John Okanga and Moses Ouma of ODM and Moses Ochieng (Ford Kenya) urged NASA principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Wetangula to sit down and save the coalition from imminent collapse.
Addressing the press outside the assembly moments after the ouster on Tuesday, Ochieng who is also the Deputy Majority Leader in the assembly likened the removal of his party leader to a coup d'état.
"Wetangula traversed the country to campaign for Raila during the August 8th, 2017 presidential elections. Removing him is not in the spirit of democracy. In any case Ford Kenya has structures like ODM," he said.
Okanga said it is not fair to have one house dominant. "Wetangula is also ours and Raila is our father who should not discriminate his children. We need dialogue and unity in the coalition to keep the coalition intact," he said.
Ouma said the ouster of Wetangula was self centered.
"All parties should now be geared towards 2022 elections and not to create divisions which might have far reaching effects," he said.
