Three men of Somali origin have been arrested on the busy Garissa-Nairobi road at Kithimani road block for possession of wrong identification documents.
The three were arrested on Thursday morning at Kithimani road block in Yatta sub-county Machakos County. The police who were inspecting public service vehicles along the road arrested the middle-aged men after they were found with wrong IDs, which is against the law.
Kithimani OCS Peter Mbua confirmed the incident, saying that the suspects were trying to reach Nairobi using fake IDs.
He added that the police have intensified their operation on the highway to arrest suspects possessing such fake, documents or those trying to enter the country illegally.
Mbua arged the passengers to report any suspected travelers to the police or call the police hotline and report any suspicious persons.
The suspects are being held at Kithimani Police station as more investigations take place.
Mbua further said that they will be arraigned in court after the investigation is over.
