Three more Mombasa CeC nominees are expected to be vetted on December 4, 2017. The three will face the committee on Apportionment/Rules and Procedures at Royal Court Hotel to defend their nomination before taking their oath of office. The nominees are Hassan Mwamtoa (Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Cooperatives), Seth Odongo (Devolution and Public Service Administration) and Fawz Rashid (Trade, Tourism and Investment). The county assembly has already published a notice of their nomination and approval by the vetting board. Mwamtoa, who was former governor candidate Hezron Awiti’s running mate, has been under sharp criticism after speculations became rife that he worked as Joho’s spy before the election. Joho has, however, rubbished the claims terming them baseless and ill-driven. The three are expected to assume office once they have sailed through the vetting process. Odongo is expected to appear before the interview panel from 10-11am, Mwamtoa from 11.30am to 12.30pm and Rashid 2.30pm to 3.30pm, the Star has reported. The three will join Godfrey Nyongesa (Environment, Waste Management and Energy), Maryann Mbaruk (Finance and Economic Planning), Twafiq Balala (Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works) and Edward Nyale (Lands, Planning and Housing) who have already been sworn-in. Others CeCs in Joho’s cabinet are Fatma Awale (Water, Sanitation and Natural Resources) Hazel Koitaba (Health) and Kevin Munyoki (Youth Gender, Sports and Cultural Affairs).
