[Photo|Parliament of Kenya]The National Assembly Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi on Monday morning opened an induction retreat for the Members of three Investigative Departmental Committees; the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Public Investment Committee (PIC) and the Special Funds Account Committee. The Committees better known as the "Watchdog Committees" in common Parliamentary Parlance, have increased from two in Previous Parliaments to three in the 12th Parliament. The Committees are key in the prudent management of resources as they audit appropriated expenditure across government agencies.The positions for Chairs of PIC and PAC are reserved for the Minority Party/Coalition, while the Special Funds Account Committee is chaired by an Independent Member.The induction retreat was opened at the Sarova Whitesands Hotel in Mombasa.
