Three people have been admitted at a Garissa hospital after being attacked by vicious hyenas over the weekend.
Two youthful men and a middle-aged woman from Madongo area escaped death by a whisker when two freely roaming beasts turned to them leaving them with bodily injuries in the legs and hands.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened on Saturday morning when two hyenas descended on the trio who were out on their daily routines.
"The hyenas have been roaming and eating our sheep. The three were attacked here as they herded their animals. They wailed and the public came to their aid," noted Abdi, a resident of Madongo.
The public managed to kill one of the beasts with one other escaped into thickets.
Residents are now asking the relevant state agency to intervene as their well-being, especially those of their young children, is in danger owing to the high number of beasts roaming in the area.
An informer from the victims' family indicated that the trio is in stable condition and would be soon be discharged from the county medical facility.
