Three people have been arrested and 34 litres of illicit brew impounded at Nguluni in Matungulu, Machakos County.
The 1.00 am crackdown was conducted in Kalie and Mwisyani villages by Nguluni chief Johnbosco Ndambuki with assistance of assistant chiefs from Katulu and Mwisyani on Tuesday.
Speaking to Hivisasa on the phone, Ndambuki said the three suspects Dominic Wambua, Grace Nduku and Regina Nzuki are hardcore illicit liquor brewers.
Ndambaki said the trio had been held at Tala Police Station awaiting to be arraigned in court today.
“The three spent the night at Tala Police Station and will appear in court today," Ndambuki said.
He said they confiscated distilling apparatus from one of the brewers' homes.
Ndambuki said they had acted on a tip -off from members of the public.
He said the crackdown will continue in other areas to ensure total eradication of illicit brew.
