Three people sustained serious injuries after two trailers were involved in a road accident at Mto Wa Mawe River, within Athi River District along Nairobi Mombasa Highway on Wednesday.
The two vehicles belonging to Multiple Transporters Limited and Calsam Transporters Limited were moving from Mombasa and Nairobi respectively, before colluding head on leading to the incident.
The injured persons included a woman, who got seriously injured and the two drivers who sustained slightly minor injuries.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred after the driver of the trailer from Mombasa tried to overtake another vehicle before meeting the on coming trailer.
The victims were admitted at Shallom Community Hospital for medication, as the trailers were towed to Athi River Police Station.
The incident was confirmed by the Athi River Traffic Base Commandant Derick Nyaga, who said police had launched investigation to the cause of the accident.
