Three suspected robbers were on Wednesday lynched to death by an angry mob in Gachie area.
The three had attempted to steal from a woman when they were found out.
According to Nairobi police boss, Japheth Koome, the deceased men who were riding on a motorbike had made fruitless attempts to rob a city woman of her money and valuables when she raised alarm. A crowd swiftly responded to her distress call and instantly lynched the three.
Police who arrived at the scene of the crime shortly could not contain the situation as the three were already dead. The bodies have since been taken to the City Mortuary. They also said investigations into the lynching incident had commenced.
Barely a week earlier, police managed to arrest several suspects who are linked to a notorious gang based in Eastleigh area and code named superpower. The criminal gang is alleged have been involved in a series of violent robbery activities that led to the murder of a 20-year old man, Abdi Mohamed.
The police officers managed to rescue the suspected Eastleigh based thugs from an irate mob that had already cornered them with worn out vehicle tyres and petrol ready to set then on fire.
Despite the numerous complaints of insecurity in Kiambu by the residents, a crime report officially released mid last month indicated that the county was much safer as compared to other big towns like Mombasa and Kisumu.
