Three people who survived gun shots from Sunday's Baragoi bandit attack have been flown to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized treatment.

The survivors were among five who were initially taken to Samburu County Referral Hospital with gunshot wounds.

Three people died during the attack.

The herders were grazing livestock at Sigira area, six kilometres from Baragoi town, when they were ambushed by suspected Turkana bandits.

According to Samburu hospital administrator Robert Nato, those who were airlifted to KNH were seriously injured.

"We could not handle them...they had stomach, chest and nose injuries," Nato said.

Nato noted that the other 2 suffered hand wounds which will be cleaned at their facility before they are taken to KNH by road.
