Police in Kiambu on Saturday gunned down three suspected gangsters in Juja.
The three are said to have been trailed from Kenol area in Murang’a County where they had allegedly committed a robbery.Police officers from the special crime prevention unit were forced to engage the three suspects after they failed to surrender.One pedestrian was injured during the confrontation between the police and the suspected gangsters. The victim was taken to the Thika Level 5 Hospital.A Ceska pistol, a homemade gun and three rounds of ammunition were recovered from the trio. Police have launched a manhunt for one of the suspects who escaped with gunshot wounds.Confirming the incident, Juja police boss Patrick Manyasi said the suspects are part of a gang that has been committing robberies in Nairobi, Kiambu and Murang’a counties.“The three suspected gangsters who were shot dead included two men and a woman. A Ceska pistol, a homemade pistol, few rounds of ammunition and several sachets of medicine were recovered,” said Manyesi.Police in the county have in the recent past intensified the crackdown on criminal gangs operating the area.Last month, police arrested one suspect and gunned down three others after they raided a cosmetics go down in Ruiru. An AK-47 rifle and an assortment of breaking and entering tools were recovered from the suspects.
