Three men who admitted stealing at the Mount Kenya University were on Friday remanded by a Thika court after the police failed to avail the exhibits in court.
Kennedy Kamau, Joseph Gikonyo and Danson Gitau pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing contrary to Section 275 of the Penal Code.
The prosecution asked the court to remand them till Monday when the exhibits will be availed in the court.
The three jointly stole assorted metal over worth Sh5,000 on September 4 at Mount Kenya University in Thika.
The court heard that the three pretended to be casual employees of the institution’s construction site.
On arrival, they started collecting assorted metal and packed them in sacks. When they were about to leave, they were confronted by the university guards who then reported the matter to the police and the three were held at Thika police station.
