Kisumu Boys High School is one of the top performing institutions in academics and co-curricular activities in the county.
The institution is located at the Central Business District (CBD) near the Aga KHan Hospital Kisumu.
Here are some of the things you didn't know about the school:
1. It started as an Indian primary school.
Many Indians came to Kenya in the early 90s to construct the railway, but when the project was complete most of them decided to stay in Kenya and acquired citizenship.
The Indian population grew fast in Kisumu and in 1925, the colonial government started a primary school to cater for education of their children.
2. It has women alumnus
In the early 60s, the school admitted both girls and boys for sciences and arts programs.
3. It did not admit African students until 1966.
The school only catered for Indian children and did not have any African in its management.
In 1966, the first African Board of Governors Chairman was appointed, after which the school began to enroll pupils of African decent.
Currently, it is among the top schools in the country and ha produces famous alumnus that include comedian Eric Omondi and his brother Fred Omondi.
