Police in Nakuru have arrested three men who were allegedly found in possession of a fake firearm.
The three men were arrested on Thursday when police were searching passengers at the Railways police station. They had boarded a Mololine Sacco matatu headed to Nairobi.
Nakuru Railways police boss Mudambi Kola said the suspects also had a boot key. He added that the fake firearm had the ability to fire bullets.
“We are not sure yet but it seems the three had committed crimes in Nakuru County and were now shifting to another place,” the OCPD said.
“There is also a big possibility that they were intending to carjack the matatu.”
He encouraged all drivers to ensure that they pass through police stations for screening of passengers.
The three suspects are currently being held at the Nakuru Railways police station.
