Police in Nyamira are pursuing three youths for allegedly spreading ‘falsehood’ that acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s house was set ablaze.

Last week, news of Matiang’i’s house being on fire was widely discussed on various social media platforms with the family dismissing the claims.

Nyamira Criminal Investigation Officer Titas Thuranira confirmed adding that one youth was arrested and later on released on police bond pending further investigations.

“We are pursuing the three and we managed to arrest one. He was released on a police bond but the case is under investigations.

“Police are looking for the other two and we shall charge them on falsehood. The family sued them and we are only doing our work,” he said.

One Kefa Onyinkwa was released following intervention by Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni after spending two days in police cell.

Also targeted is blogger Vincent Osumo and journalist Abuga Makori both whose whereabouts are still unknown according to the police.
