Multitudes flocked at Rangenyo area of Nyamira County after a three-year old boy was buried alive at a quarry.
The boy had accompanied the mother, who had as usual reported at the quarry where she works when the incident occurred.
It is reported that upon arrival at the quarry, the mother went on with the digging on one side of the quarry as the child sneaked away to another side of the quarry to play, where he met his death.
It took the rescuers at least three hours to retrieve the body of the late young boy, which was hidden far in the debris, before his body was taken to the Nyamira County Hospital mortuary.
The residents have been advised to desist from the quarry activities during this rain season as this exposes their lives to the danger of being buried by the quarry.
"The residents have been digging for the soil long enough around this area and we advise them to keep off from the activities during this rainy season," said Kevin Onsongo, a resident.
