A suspected thug was shot dead by police in a botched robbery in Kirinyaga.

Police caught up with the thugs as they tried to break into market stores.

Two accomplices managed to escape.

“After stealing from one shop, they would move to the next and ransack cash boxes before breaking into a nearby bar where they reportedly threatened the attendant with death unless he surrendered all the cash,” an eyewitness is quoted by Standard.

Kirinyaga East Sub-county OCPD Hassan Hussein said he was held up in a meeting and would talk to the press later.
