A middle-aged man is nursing serious injuries at Keumbu hospital after he was attacked by thugs on Saturday morning at his Nyacheki home, Kisii County.

It is alleged that the boda-boda rider identified as Ambrose Momanyi was ambushed in his house by 3 armed men who attacked him with a panga before escaping with a motorbike. 

Area chief Gideon Oyugi confirmed the incident and said neighbors who tried to run after the thugs didn’t succeed to arrest them.

"Momanyi was at his house early on Saturday morning preparing to go to work when the thugs raided the home and asked him to surrender the motorbike keys but he refused to prompt to the attack. He was cut deeply in the head, shoulders and his hands,” said the chief.

He said the thugs who fled towards Nyamache are being pursued by police officers.

"The thugs are being pursued by police officers. They must be arrested to be taken to court. Boda boda riders in the area should be vigilant to ensure criminals targeting to steal their motorbikes are arrested and prosecuted,” he said. 

The local administrator assured that the victim is responding well to medication.
