3 night security guards were on Friday night killed by armed robbers at Gesonso area few meters from Suneka along Kisii - Migori road.
According to residents, the guards were ambushed at their place of work at around 1 am and hacked to death by the thugs who stole vehicle spare parts, tyres all valued over Sh1 million.
Dan Onsase, a resident accused police officers from Gesonso who took several hours to respond to distress calls after the guards raised alarm.
"The deaths should be blamed on the lazy police officers who can not even manage to respond to distress calls from common citizens. It is time police officers to beef up security or else we protest for their removal from the area," he said.
Douglas Chora, whose uncle was murdered by the thugs called on police to pursue the suspects and bring them into book.
"We want justice because my uncle has been a bread winner to his family. The suspects should be trailed, arrested and prosecuted," said Chora.
Kisii Police commander Abdi Hassan confirmed the incident and said police have started investigations.
"We have launched probe to catch up with the thugs. We will not allow criminals terrorize innocent civilians who are struggling to earn a living," said Abdi.
He assured that police will intensify security patrols to ensure locals are protected and their property.
The bodies were moved to Nyangena hospital mortuary.
