Locals said the deceased identified as Nyagaka, a matatu driver plying Masimba-Kisii town route was abducted by suspected thugs on Friday while returning home from work.

“Nyagaka has been a hardworking driver until Wednesday night when he was reported missing. We launched a search but we could not find him until Friday morning when tea pickers found his decomposing body dumped in a tea farm,” said the deceased brother Zablon Ombongi.

Ombongi said Nyagaka’s body had a deep cut on his head.

Kisii County police commander Hassan Abdi said investigations have been launched to arrest the suspects behind the brutal murder.

Abdi urged residents to be calm and allow police to investigate the matter.

“Members of the public should cooperate with police to ensure the suspects are brought into the book,” he said.

The commander said the body of the man was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital mortuary.
