A senior doctor who works at Murang’a Level 4 hospital is at the ICU after a night attack at his Ngoigwa estate home in Murang’a.
Police said armed thugs ambushed the two, Dr Kagimbi Kimani and his wife, around 1:00 am Tuesday morning as they returned home from a night shift.
The thugs killed Kimani’s wife on the spot and kidnapped him and the house girl.
The two were later abandoned metres away after the attackers shot Kimani several times.
“Shortly after entering their home, the house girl went to close the door, but the criminals forced their way in and shot dead the wife before kidnapping her husband and the house girl,” a source said.
Kimani is an ear, nose and throat surgeon at the Murang’a Level Four hospital. He was rushed to Thika Level Five Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
“What befell one of our doctors is very saddening and we are urging our security enforcers to ensure that the criminals are apprehended. We want to see such insecurity cases that are rising in Ngoingwa Estate and other areas to be curbed,” Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria said.
