A shopkeeper in Thika sub-county’s Makongeni area is nursing injuries at Mt Sinai hospital after being attacked by thugs in his shop.
The unknown thugs slashed Kenfrey Mwangi alias 'Ofisa', 27, at his Makongeni estate shop at around 10.30pm on Sunday night.
Confirming the incident, Thika police boss Shadrack Maithya said the officers on patrol were alerted about the crime by neighbours after they heard screams from the shop.
He further added that investigations are underway to bring the culprits to book.
“Our officers on patrol were informed by residents and we are probing the matter now to ensure we get the people involved in this barbaric act,” Maithya said.
He acknowledged receiving numerous cases of insecurity, saying police were working on a strategy to reduce the increasing criminal incidents in the sub-county.
