Suspected thugs stabbed a cow to death after a failed robbery.
The incident happened on Sunday night at Mwamoro village in Riabanyi Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County.
James Misoko said the thugs raided his home attempted to break into a room where he keeps his two motorbikes in vain.
“The thugs raided the home and tried to force their way into the room where I keep my motorbikes. The dogs were alert and scared the thugs who escaped through the cowshed, they then stabbed the cow several times with a knife before fleeing,” he said.
He said he immediately rushed to see his cow only to find the cow lying down bleeding.
Area assistant chief Dan Maeba confirmed the incident and said the cow could not survive due to the deep knife cuts it sustained.
“It is unfortunate that the thugs turned against the cow when they failed to meet their target. The cow died leaving a 4 days old calf. The thugs are being trailed by police officers to Trans Mara where it is believed that they are hiding,” he said.
He warned local youths against engaging in crime saying the law will not spare criminals.
The local administrator urged youths to keep off crime.
