Area OCPD Shadrack Maithya said that the gang of four accosted Edwin Gichiri Njuguna outside his gate in Ngoingwa estate demanding for money. He however did not have money on him so they followed him into the house where they made away with Sh300,000 in cash, two laptops, four mobile phones and a Sony DVD player.

Maithya said that nobody was injured during the attack that happened at around midnight yesterday.

Ngoingwa estate is in the outskirts where recently, a group of six thugs armed with firearms and crude weapons attacked a homestead and held a family hostage for more than four hours. The thugs allegedly sexually assaulted all the female occupants before escaping with valuables.

It took concerted efforts of all the residents who came up with a comprehensive security program which involved construction of a police post, lighting and naming all the streets within the estate that is home to more than 5,000 residents.

Maithya however added that investigations have been launched by the police department to ensure they bring the culprits into justice.

“We have launched investigations into the incident. We are working to apprehend the culprits,” Maithya insisted.
