Owen said unknown number of thugs broke into the premise of Nyahera Seke farmers group on Tuesday night which makes milk products including yorghurt and stole their equipment.

She said there has been an increase in cases of insecurity in the area and have affected the Nyakere Seke farmers group which is working hard to uplift their livelihoods.

“Cases of insecurity have been on the rise in the area and now they are targeting livelihoods of hundreds of families. It is unfortunate,” she said.

She said the group had reported the matter to Dago police station and so far no arrests have been made to help recover the stolen items including a cooling refrigerator.

Speaking to the Press in Kisumu on Wednesday, she said the theft of the refrigerator costing over Sh100,000 has brought activities of the group to a standstill.

Owen said the group had got approval from Kenya Bureau of Standards and has been selling branded yoghurt milk even in supermarkets.

She further appealed to the community members to help the administration to identify criminal elements amongst them to help reduce such incidents and also urged well-wishers to help the group regain their activities.
