They say in the past one month more than ten people have been attacked and robbed their valuables on the way home from as early as 8pm.

A local Nyumba Kumi Chairman Joseph Kamau has said that many of the victims have blamed the kiosks for the attacks.

"The fact that the kiosks have no doors make it possible for criminals to enter and hide there waiting for lone passersby so that they can attack and rob them. It is unfortunate because we cannot tell the kiosks' owners to destroy them because that is where they eke a living," said Kamau on Sunday.

Kamau says that if residents can cooperate with their Nyumba Kumi clusters, it would be easy to identify the criminals which he said comes from the estate.

"These are not outsiders and residents can easily identify them. They laugh with them during the day and rob them at night," he said.

He said that he will be raising the matter with Makongeni Chief soon to chat the way forward as well as find a solution to the menace.
