A casual worker at the facility said the mattress was stolen from a maternity ward by unknown people at night.

“The thieves stole the 4- inch mattress that expectant mothers have been using when they come to the facility for tests and delivery.

"Police should investigate the matter and arrest the suspects,” said a casual worker who declined to be named.

The worker added that the hospital has only one bed at the maternity ward that has now been left without a mattress.
