The government has been advised to incorporate ethics and integrity in the curriculum to nurture students who understand such issues.

Speaking to journalists at Eldoret Town on Thursday, Transparency International (TI) Kenya North Rift Coordinator Isaiah Mwongela said that incorporating integrity issues into the curriculum will help curb corruption and impunity.

He said that learners will be able to understand issues to do with transparency, governance, leadership and also corruption.

Mwongela said that one of the ways to fight corruption would be to teach students in primary and secondary schools on integrity and good governance.

“The government should start thinking of incorporating integrity issues into the curriculum to fight things like corruption and impunity,” he said.

The TI official observed that countries that are free of corruption have incorporated ethics into their curriculum.

Mwongela said that corruption will continue to thrive unless appropriate measures are taken. He said that war against graft will bore fruits if students in schools are sensitised on the effects of vice.

Mwongela asked the government to start ant-graft campaigns in schools in a bid to discourage students from the vice.

He at the same time cautioned the government against fight graft selectively. The official said that all culprits found culpable of economic crimes must face the law.
