A Kabarnet court on Wednesday released 4 suspects on bond accused of murdering two politicians from Tiaty constituency pending the hearing and determination of their case
The suspects; Musa Kisur Katurkana, Lomotongole Yatta, Danniel Lokitary alias Dokta and Titus Longor Tuwot are being charged with the murder of Tiaty MP aspirant Pepee Kitamba and Loyamorok MCA Kibet Cheretei on February 18 2017 at Lamat T junction bar and restaurant in Marigat, Baringo South.
They were each released on a Sh500,000 bond.
According to sources, the prosecution had opposed the release of the suspects saying the families of the deceased were troubled with the loss of their loved ones and that their release will undermine peace and public order since the incident was widely covered in the media.
The defense counsel rejected the assertion saying their clients have been cooperative with the court and that at no time had they interfered with the case or disrupted peace.
Kabarnet High Court Judge Edward Muriithi determined the bond terms after positive reports by the probation and the security team which found no compelling reason deny the suspects bond.
The suspects denied murder charges.
The case will be mentioned on 15 June 2017.
