Alfred Mutua the incumbent governor polled at 75% making him a clear winner if elections were to be held today.
"Those polls are unreliable and I do not think they make sense to anybody. Mutua's popularity is as a result of his heightened PR work on the media and elsewhere but on the ground there is nothing. What you hear happening in Machakos County is not reality. For instance there is no water," Wavinya told Citizen TV on Tuesday.
She said that her late entry into Machakos gubernatorial race wouldn't affect her performance noting that even a day in politics was long enough to change one's political fortunes.
"Watch this pace, I will be Machakos governor after August 8 polls," added Wavinya.
Wavinya lashed out at Mutua's developmental record terming it as paperwork without any taugible evidence on the ground.
She said that her priorities in the first two years will be water which she termed as 'food' and roads saying that those constructed by Mutua were substandard and the many ambulances that he had bought could not even use them.
