Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki has assured residents there will be adequate security during and after ODM’s primary elections in the county today (Saturday).Achoki told residents to maintain peace during the process to ease police work.During the polls, focus will particularly be in Nyali constituency where re-known journalist Mohammed Ali (Moha), formally of KTN’s Jicho Pevu will be wrestling Governor Hassan Joho’s cousin Said Abdallah for the ticket.The two have for the last three weeks been combing the constituency luring residents to cast votes in their favour.“We have adequate security deployed in areas deemed hotspots,” Achoki said at a press conference in Mombasa on Friday.“Our officers are on the ground. We will not allow groupings in polling stations and we expect people who will take part in the exercise to cast their votes and return home,” he added.Governor Joho already has the nomination certificate since no one came out to challenge him during the primaries.Coast Counties of Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River and Lamu will all be holding ODM nominations today and there has been tension in the region bearing the expected competitiveness of the exercise.Senior Jubilee Party members have been traversing the region in a bid to oust the opposition and win votes ahead of the August 8 polls.
