Addressing the press after touring a number of schools in the county during the examinations period, the county commissioner James Kianda said that security personnel has been deployed in different parts of the county to ensure that nothing goes wrong.

He affirmed that security has been tightened at the Kenya Somali border where terror attacks have been common in the recent past.

Some of the adversely affected areas include Holugho, Fafi and Dadaab sub counties.

The examinations kicked off a few months after two police officers went missing following an attack at the Hamey Patrol Base.

During the same incident, it is reported that around 1,000 rounds of ammunition, police pick up and uniforms belonging to police officers went missing.

“We have dispatched one APC and scaled up patrols on routes suspected to be used by Al Shabaab to cross into the country,” Kianda said, as quoted by The Star Newspaper.

His sentiments were backed by Leonard Owambo, a member of Knec, who said that the council has not experienced any problem since the examinations kicked off in the nation.

“It’s a serious a business and the stakes are very high. Exams are now becoming a matter of national security,” Owambo said.
