Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a has asked officers to tighten road surveillance along the busy the Thika-Garissa highway, stating that the road has been used by criminals to stage attacks on innocent and unarmed civilians.
Speaking on Monday during a leaders’ forum organized by the deputy county commissioner Anjere Tom, the legislator said that suspicious people from Somalia have been frequently using the route to frustrate travelers.
“There are very suspicious characters, who sneak into the country through this Thika - Garissa road, and when they discover there is a police barrier ahead they immediately alight from the buses and walk on foot. Security personnel will now start to inspect the suspicious looking individuals walking on foot along the road,” Ng’ang’a revealed.
