Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has raised concern over the manner in which his opponents are conducting their campaigns.
Timamy argued that two of the gubernatorial aspirants are being used by Fahim Twaha of Jubilee to ensure he does not retain his seat come August.
The governor said the two leaders’ main mission is ensuring that his votes are dispersed ahead of the August general election.
He claimed that Abdalla Fadhil (ODM) and Swaleh Imu (Wiper) are working for his longtime opponent Fahim Twaha as the election date inches closer.
“Everyone has the right to contest but they must know that I am not afraid of all the dirty tricks they are applying. I will win fair and square,” said Timamy.
Timamy spoke after he was cleared to defend his seat in August. His opponents have, however, dismissed him arguing that it is evident he has sensed defeat.
The two leaders reminded the county boss to concentrate on his campaigns and not drag their names into his woes.
“I am not anybody’s project. My objective is to give the people of Lamu a taste of good leadership. What we should be doing as aspirants is to go out there and show people why they need to vote for us. He should stop these lies and cheap propaganda,” said Fadhil, as quoted by The Star.
On his part, Imu said, “No one can afford me. I can't sell my democratic right for any price. I have been in politics before they even thought of joining. I have severally stood against Fahim in politics. How can I work for him now? Why would I even waste my time being used by a fellow man? Those are lies.”
