On July 29, 2015, Machakos governor Alfred Mutua was on the record saying that the county government has set aside Sh2.5 billion water project.

According to a report published by Capital FM business desk on that day, the governor promised to dig 1,000 boreholes by May 2016 and that all homes in Machakos county should get piped water.

He promised to dig 300 dams by December 2015 and 600 new boreholes by the end of 2015.

He was quoted saying, "It is a right for every person to have access to water and it is not a privilege. All people in my county must have access to water."

Well, May 2016 is just two days ahead, it is time to take stock of the Sh2.5 billion Machakos water project.
