Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire insists he has no intentions of seeking the Nyamira gubernatorial seat in 2017 despite reports linking him to the position.
A section of social media users have been claiming that Mr Bosire could be fronted by his ODM party after favourite candidate Charles Mochama decamped to the rival Jubilee party.
And on Sunday during a phone interview with this writer, Bosire dismissed the claims saying he was ‘contended’ with his current parliamentary seat and vowed to defend it in 2017.
“I have no intentions at all to go for the gubernatorial seat. I have answered that question several times and I won’t hesitate to do so again. It’s not in my plans because I still think my Kitutu Masaba people need me for now,” he said.
“In 2017, I will still contest parliamentary seat and that is my intention. Let those who want to run for the governorship campaign and I know Nyamira people will go for the best candidate,” he added.
However, the ODM national treasurer did not fully rule him out of the gubernatorial race but limited it to the 2022 polls.
“Yes, it’s sometimes a favour to serve the entire county but perhaps in future. In 2017, I will still run for the parliamentary seat. The moment will come and my dream of serving Nyamira people shall be realised in future,” he added.
