Outspoken Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has revealed why he skipped the luncheon hosted by Cord leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday afternoon.
Bosire said he had to attend a crucial PAC meeting at Parliament buildings and that is why he skipped the meeting.
Mr Odinga, and his Cord co-principals, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula, dined with several legislators among them Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria who were detained for four days at both the Pangani and Muthaiga police stations over hate speech.
The MPs were arraigned in a Nairobi court on Friday last week but denied the hate speech charges.
Mr Bosire was conspicuously absent during the luncheon at Kosewe Ranalo Restaurant in Nairobi's CBD in which Mr Kuria who allegedly called for the assassination of Mr Odinga had an opportunity to share a meal together as a show of unity.
And Bosire on Wednesday said he was ‘very’ willing to attend the meeting but instead opted to join his PAC colleagues to discuss various reports that are due to be tabled in Parliament.
”I fully supported the idea of Cord leaders dining with my colleagues whom we spent four days with at Pangani police station together. It’s a show of unity and I am very glad that my party leader (Raila Odinga) and his co-principals attended,” he said.
“I had serious parliamentary business in the PAC committee which I had to attend. Some of these reports should be submitted in the House as soon as next week so we had to do final touches,” added the ODM national treasurer.
He urged Kenyans to live in harmony and appreciate each other regardless of their party affiliations and tribes.
“But the most important thing is that Kenyans have seen that we politicians do not have problem again each other. It’s important that we differ ideologically but not make it personal,” he said.
Those prsetn during the lunch included MPs Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), Junet Mohammed (Suna East), woman reps Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi) and Florence Mutua (Busia) and Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama
Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu was said to be attending a funeral.
