Reformed alcoholics in Ting'ang'a, Kiambu County are set to benefit from Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to allow them to pursue courses of their choice.
This was announced by the area Member of Parliament Jude Njomo who was speaking on Monday at Ting'ang'a Mission Worship Centre.
During the forum aimed at encouraging and supporting reformed drunkards from the region, Njomo said they are ready to help reformed alcoholics improve their lives and become productive people in the society.
"We are here to support our people who have voluntarily decided to change their lives for the better and stop taking alcohol," said Njomo.
He added: "They have realized it does not help them in any way. We have also agreed with them that we shall support them through CDF to do handcraft courses that will help them earn a living."
Evangelist Grace Komo who was present also promised to offer full support.
"You have the authority over alcohol and you should not allow it to control your life" encouraged Grace.
Alcoholism in Kiambu has been rampant but the reformed addicts have sworn to turn a new leaf.
This comes days after Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu signed into law The Alcoholic Drinks Control Bill 2018 that is meant to regulate the consumption of illicit liquor in the County.
The law has seen bar owners' licences revoked, and the bar owners asked to renew their licences which has sparked anger among manyof them.
