So you have found yourself being a guest of the state and being your first time, you are so terrified!
You have not only watched, in movies, how new inmates are bullied but you have also heard from your close friends how they were ill-treated when they spent several nights in a police cell.
Well, do not urinate on yourself just yet. Here are a few tips to help you survive in a Kenyan police cell for a few days as you wait to be taken to court.
The moment you are thrown inside (of course without a belt, wallet and phone), act as if it is your 100th time to be inside there.
Greet everyone and talk a lot. Be funny and make everyone laugh.
The idea is to get that mean-looking man with deep cuts forming furrows on his bushy scary face to like you.
The moment you will make friends with the bully is the moment your stay in the cell will become bearable.
Do not act tough and uncooperative. Just behave as if you do not really mind being inside there for a couple of days.
Share your experiences with other inmates and time will fly by.
