Moiben Member of Parliament Silas Tiren has welcomed the appointment of Prof. Isaac Kosgey as the new Moi University Vice-Chancellor.
Tiren also hailed the Education Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohammed for the appointment that brings to an end controversies that had surrounded the matter.
The Jubilee MP said he has faith in Kosgey's leadership and expressed optimism that he will revolutionize the institution to the next level due to his experience.
“I want to congratulate Prof Isaac Sanga Kosgey for being appointed as the Moi University VC. The University will now have a substantive VC who will not only improve the education standards but also infrastructure,” said Tiren in Eldoret town, Monday.
“I want him to confirm the 1,000 casual’s workers who have served the institution for over twenty years once he takes office. I wish him well in his endeavours,” he added.
Prof. Kosgey will replace Prof. Laban Ayiro who had been in an acting capacity for more than one year.
Ayiro's term expires on Monday, March 19, 2018.
Prof Kosgey has been the Laikipia University’s deputy vice-chancellor, Administration, Finance and Development.
He emerged top in interviews for the position that were conducted in November 2017 after getting an overall mark of 76 while Prof. Ayiro and Prof. Ann Nangulu tied at 70 marks.
