Moiben Member of Parliament Sila Tiren has warned millers against increasing the maize flour buying prices.

He said the recommended government subsidized price is sh 90per 2Kg.

“I want to give a stern warning to millers who have increased their maize flour prices, why should they increase the price and yet they still have received government-subsidized maize,” he said in Eldoret town after meeting secondary school principals from his constituency, Friday.

“Millers should retain the subsidized price until their subsidized stock is over that is February or March and anyone who will do contrary will face the full force of the law.I urge Kenyans to just pay sh 90 per 2kg and nothing more,” he added.

He, however, urged the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Willy to ensure that farmers are paid promptly after delivering their maize to the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).

“It sad that some farmers after delivering their maize produce they have not been paid for the last one month yet they want to use the money to pay their students fees. The CS should act at speed before things get out of hand,” noted Tiren.
