The National Alliance (TNA) party County Chairman Ben Adega has reacted angrily to statements by Siaya governor Cornel Rasanga to have counties replace portraits of President Uhuru Kenyatta with those of opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Adega who spoke to this writer on phone termed the statements by Rasanga as insensitive and disappointing from someone of the governor’s stature.

“Rasanga should stop being petty and respect the Head of State, we should not politicise everything in this country, what is wrong with the head of state’s portrait?” posed Adega.

He told Rasanga to call for a referendum and amend the article stating that the president’s portrait to be in every public office and business premises in the country.

“These governors are just drunk with power and they should find other important things to do rather than raise such issues,” said Adega.

The Siaya governor, while speaking during the joint memorial service for Jaramogi Oginga and Fidel Odinga, last weekend, asked his counterparts in 24 counties controlled by Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) to see to it that the president’s portrait are replaced with those of the opposition chief.

He claimed that by doing so, the counties were confirming their support for the Cord leader.
