The National Alliance Party (TNA) has summoned Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, to its national disciplinary committee.
This is over the alleged incitement remarks he made while addressing a section of youths in Gatundu South on Monday.
In a statement sent to the media on Thursday, TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja said that Kuria has been asked to appear before the committee to shed light on the allegations.
Sakaja said that the alleged utterances by Kuria amounts to indiscipline and contravenes the party’s regulations.
“Pursuant to Article 32 of the party Constitution, the party has decided to summon Kuria to explain the incitement allegations being levelled against him,” read part of the statement.
Sakaja in the statement says that Kuria will be served with the summons on Friday (today).
At the same time, Sakaja has distanced TNA from the utterances made by Kuria. He said that the utterances by the Gatundu South MP have nothing to do with TNA and its leaders.
The Gatundu South MP is being probed over allegations that he incited some youths in his constituency by asking them to use their pangas to slash people opposing the National Youth Service (NYS) projects.
On Thursday morning, Kuria was grilled by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials over the remarks he is said to have made when he led a crackdown on illicit brews.
Speaking to the press after the grilling by CID officials, Kuria said, “I was asked to come here and record statements which I have done and I expect that the truth will come out.”
The vocal MP said that he had made an apology to Kenyans adding that the remarks he is said to have made were blown out of proportion.
Several leaders across the political divide have called for arrest and prosecution of Kuria.
