The National Alliance (TNA) party Kisumu County branch has expelled nominated Senator Joy Gwendo from the party over gross misconduct.
The county branch coordinator Juma Midigo said they have instructed the party to recall her nomination.
Midigo said her close working relationship with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party in the county forms part of the reasons she has been expelled.
He said the branch forwarded her name for the nomination and she has all the reasons to work for the party.
“We have written to the party outlining the accusations and Gwendo will be at liberty to respond to the grounds we have used to expel her,” he said.
Addressing the press at the party office in Kondele in Kisumu, Midigo said the nominated Senator has failed to propagate the ideals of TNA in the county.
Flanked by some of the branch officials, Midigo said they have written to the party headquarters to withdraw any privileges she is enjoying at the Senate.
He said the position should be given to a deserving TNA woman supporter in the county who is ready to market the party.
The branch faulted the Senator for organising a farmer’s day in Kisumu County last month without involving the party officials but choose to work with ODM party followers.
When contacted, Gwendo rubbished the claims questioning the powers the branch officials have to expel her from the party.
