TNA Party Lower Eastern Movement is drumming up support for Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's Maendeleo Chap Chap Initiative.
The leaders who represent Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties said the initiative was the best strategy of ensuring quick development in the Lower Eastern region that had for decades lagged behind in terms of development.
"The leaders and members of TNA Lower Eastern Region have remained strong and active through the repeated support by the president and his partnership with Dr Alfred Mutua. Through this, the region has remained relevant in the national arena,” they said in a statement.
The statement read by the movement's chairman Captain Stephen Kiema added, “Recognising the importance of the national government in stimulating development in the region, Governor Mutua has voiced his unerring support of the government and this has irritated the indecisive political forces who have been around for decades. Governor Mutua is currently facing a severe onslaught from anti-development minded leaders in the region for championing rapid development and unification programme for the people from the region. This is because those resistant forces do not want their development inaction and predator tendencies exposed and rendered irrelevant and outdated."
Kiema said the movement recognises the Maendeleo Chap Chap Movements and its agenda for rapid development plan, people unification programme and active presence in the national agenda for better livelihoods.
"The TNA Lower Eastern Movement is hereby registering their willingness to support and defend Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement under the leadership of Governor Mutua. Equally, any leader and person who is for the people's development and unity of our people in the region," read the statement.
Kiema said in the last half a decade, the people of the region are witnessing a shift of style in the politics, development and participation in the global society.
"We, the founders, leaders and members of TNA Lower Eastern Movement are glad to inform the people of Lower Eastern and the country at large that a new dawn is here with us. The light in the new dawn is indiscriminate and is set to penetrate, puncture and destroy the indecisive politics of underdevelopment in the region. The region has for a long time been cast with terminal politics that have seen some people rise to power as predators and masters of development retardation such that we have remained impoverished," said Kiema.
Kiema disclosed that Kitui, Makueni and Machakos counties embraced TNA in the last general election where they emerged with three elected MCA's and two nominated MCAs despite campaigning in strong positions.
"In preparations for 2017, the TNA Lower Eastern Movement that is currently strengthening its grounds to ensure that the region reverts back to the government," said Kiema.
