Gatundu North MP Francis Kigo has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to consider travelling to The Hague if his plea to attend his hearings through a video link is not granted, saying the case looks weak.
The TNA lawmaker, who was speaking during an inter-denominations prayers in Gatundu town on Friday, said that if the president fails to honour the summon, it could be a recipe for the International Criminal Court to start issuing arrest warrants against him – a thing that will highly curtail his movements and inconvenience the country at large.
“What I would like to tell the president, something I know he is aware of is that he should not fail to go The Hague because his case has got no grounds; it has no witnesses and a case without witnesses is not prosecutable,” the MP said.
Speaking at the same time, Pastor Ng’ang’a Kamau, the presiding priest and organiser of the prayers, said that the exercise will be a regular one where they will be coming together to pray for the country leadership ,the nation among other things.
“We stand with our country and especially the president who has once again been summoned at the ICC. What we can tell him is that we’re together with him in prayers as we have always been,” the pastor said.
The function had brought faithful from various parts and different denominations in Gatundu North.
