Speaking on Friday at Kikuyu town during annual general meeting of Kenya National Farmers Federation, Ichungwa said that the state of security in the country is worrying and the country needs a change to cope with the fight against terrorism.

“Karangi should resign since he has failed in his duty of protecting Kenyans,” the MP said.

He said that Karangi should be replaced by a more energetic person who will be able to protect the lives of the nation.

The legislator said that country is losing much under the current state of insecurity.

“The country, especially on tourism, is losing and there is need to contain the situation to enable the country generate wealth,” said the MP.

He said Tuesday’s attack in Koromey in Mandera County where 36 quarry workers were killed could have been avoided if the security organs had beeen alert.

He also thanked the government for the changes that have been taken in restructuring the security agencies.

Following the attack, President Uhuru Kenyatta accepted the resignation of police chief David Kimaiyo and replaced Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lengu with Kajiado Central MP Joseph Nkaissery.

“The government has done remarkable steps in restructuring the security agencies to deal with cases of terrorism,” said the legislator.

He further urged Kenyans to support the government in fighting terrorism.

“Kenyans also have a responsibility to support the government in restoring stability.”
