Kiambu The National Alliance Party (TNA) has distance itself from Governor William Kabogo's recent statement that insinuated it was not automatic Mt Kenya region will support Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022.

In a statement  on Thursday, Kiambu TNA Vice Chairman William Kuria said the party regrets over the statement made by the Kiambu governor.

Kuria added that Kabogo’s statement was personal and do not reflect the views of the party.

“Kabogo’s remarks are personal and as party we are not associated to it whatsoever,” he said.

The Kiambu TNA chairman stated that Kabogo spoke for himself. “We wish to state clearly that as TNA Kiambu branc we are not associated to the statement made by Kabogo,” added Kuria.

The Kiambu governor has been on the receiving end over the statement with several leaders from Mt Kenya and Rift Valley hitting at him.

The leaders have termed Kabogo’s remarks as personal.

On Thursday Kabogo defended himself over the statement saying it was the truth. Kabogo added that Ruto is his friend and as such he has every right to tell him the truth.
