The NationalAlliance (TNA) party plans to register over two million people as members of the party in preparation for the 2017 elections, TNA Chairman Kiambu County Josiah Kuria has said.
Speaking in Limuru, Kuria said the party wanted to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta had overwhelming support in the next elections from his home ground.
“In the last elections, Kiambu people voted overwhelmingly for President Uhuru by giving him 800, 000 votes from the county, but next elections we want two million,” said Kuriah.
He urged the young people who just turned 18 years to ensure they took their national identification (ID) cards and also registered with the party.
He added that the party was eyeing a guaranteed win for President Uhuru by preparing early and making sure they had the numbers.
“Let our political proponents make all the noise they want, but we will remain strategic in getting votes and ensuring we are the leaders of this country again,” he said.
The numbers targeted in Kiambu were consistent with the nationwide recruitment drive by TNA that was launched by the party officials.
Kiambu County is President Uhuru's home ground since he was brought up in Gatundu, and the family lives in different parts of the larger Kiambu.
