The main parties in the ruling Jubilee Coalition, URP and TNA, have been accused of undermining the smaller parties inside the coalition.
John Karasinga, Rongai KANU Party chairman has said that URP and TNA have not acted according to the constitution, saying proper talks should have been carried out.
Speaking at Nakuru town, Sunday evening, Karasinga said that the smaller parties in the coalition were not consulted about the move to dissolve the coalition, and the formation of the new Jubilee Alliance Party.
He added that parties within the coalition have independent structures, and should have been consulted before registering the new party.
“I am a KANU life member and I can tell you that we were never consulted about the formation of the new party. The decision was taken by URP and TNA and any dissolution being talked about is targeting the two parties, but as KANU we are not dissolving,” said Karasinga.
“They cannot disregard other members in the coalition and purport to make decisions on behalf of the coalition or have they forgotten that the coalition has other members’ part from URP and TNA?” he asked.
Karasinga said that any decision of dissolving the party and joining a new outfit can only be made by bonafide party members at a delegate’s conference.
Last week, URP and TNA, which are the major parties in the Jubilee Coalition, announced that they had formed a new party, which they will use in the 2017 general election.
The Musalia Mudavadi led Musalia Mudavadi which is also a member of jubilee has also disowned the new party and said they were not consulted over the same.
