The move by the Cord leadership to launch attacks on independent institutions especially the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission are futile.
The team should bear the following in mind before the campaigns, chest thumping and the unwarranted mass action;
1. IEBC is a constitutional body
Constitutional bodies are well structured and clearly stipulated procedures of the removal indicated. What's the point of taking courtroom or parliamentary battles to the streets? The Cord team is full of legal experts who ought to know better.
2.Changing the commissioners is not winning the elections
The electorate is the determining factor over who takes victory home. As much as you may accuse the IEBC of bias in its actions and rulings, its impact is minute in comparison to the voice of the voters.
3.Changing the drivers without changing the engine of the vehicle will not make the vehicle efficient
The team might bow to your demands, but the new team will be the same. If as you may argue that you don't trust the team, how certain will the country be that you'll trust the new one? What guarantees you that the next team will be different? The structures are similar and will guarantee the same results regardless of the operational team.
4. The media will give you full coverage, exposing your flaws to the public
Coverage you'll be given. Headlines, talk shows and interviews will be unending. The electorate will ingest, digest and assimilate your content. The question is; will the outcome be favourable or otherwise? Take it to the streets. It's your right, but remember, the voters decision is the anointing oil.
